Welcome to Critchill School Working Futures

“Helping young people gain employment and improve lives”

Here at Critchill School we are pleased to introduce our Working Futures Programme, which is designed to help our young people make informed choices about their future and offer support and guidance along the way. Students have the opportunity to go out into the community on work experience placements raising their career aspirations and simultaneously improving their skills set, confidence, self-esteem and independence.  We believe that every student should have the opportunity to gain employment if they have the desire and drive to do so regardless of disability.

Our in house work experience include the mobile café/catering van which can be found at Frome Market every Wednesday during term time. The students serve on the van and prepare all the food ready for sale. We have  a 5 star Food Hygiene rating. Many thanks to Mendip District Council for their continued support and to our fellow market stall holders who have made us very welcome.

There are also opportunities for students to work regularly with Frome Town Rangers, learn grounds maintenance, gardening and enterprise skills.

There is an expectation that our students will undertake a number of sustained work experience placements in the local business community.

We are currently working with a number of businesses in Frome and the surrounding area.

Through vocational profiling and liaison with professionals, we aim to facilitate suitable work placements in order to develop students’ work skills. We continue to  appreciate the support from local organisations and businesses.

We are proud to offer a wide variety of work visits and work experience placements.  Some of these may lead to supported internships or apprenticeships.  The ultimate goal of the Working Futures programme is for our students to gain the foundations for a lifetime of meaningful paid employment.

Would you like to be involved in the Working Futures Programme?

We are keen to always keen to work with more local employers to find out what your needs are and how we can develop them in our students. By careful matching of skills to jobs and with support from our Working Futures team, we know that many of our students would make fantastic employees. If you would like to find out more or would like to be involved in this programme then please contact a member of our Working Futures team.
